Course Overview

AIS welcomes enrolments to our Year 11 EAP program preparing students for their senior studies.

This program is organised by subject enabling all students to access the language needed to thrive in SACE and Cambridge subjects.

Senior school teachers work with TESOL specialists designing intensive English language subjects specifically relating to SACE subjects. Through this course, students are prepared for Year 11 and Year 12, with opportunities to develop language across all modes of communication and gain subject content knowledge, and critical thinking skills. The close alignment of this course with SACE and Cambridge subjects facilitates a smooth and challenging transition into senior school.

Importantly, students’ language learning is carefully tracked ensuring the level of English proficiency is to a standard that will allow a student to confidently transition into mainstream classes. It is critical for the student’s future academic success and their positive social and cultural experiences that language proficiency enables engagement with senior courses.

Successful completion of the course provides the student with up to 40 credits towards their SACE Stage 1. The course offers each student the opportunity to complete the subject, ‘Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF)’ which is a compulsory SACE Stage 1 unit.

Adelaide International School is an accredited ELICOS provider.
